How to create your own stripe-ad
Stripe ad is a strip of highlighted ad-space below the browser’s navigation. Stripe ad is a neat way to extend space to create additional advertising room, and the most popular position for stripe-ad is on top of page. It has extremely visible to the website visitor since it’s the first thing the visitor sees on the site.

It’s not seen as obtrusive advertising that interferes with the user experience of your blog or website. There’re numerous advertising types that interfere the visitors, especially popup ad (Pop-ups, pop-overs and pop-unders).
But it not always neat, and for some case it can be interference for the user experience, and people not liking it. However, stripe ad become interference is just for a little case, and the most people like it and it’s not interferes with the user experience.
Create your own stripe-ad
I use there files to create my own stripe-ad: stripe-ad.php, style.html (download or save this .txt file and rename to style.html), and close.gif. Stripe-ad.php is for creating ad message and calling the CSS style. Style.html is for creating layout style such as colors, position, font, and Javascript function. Close.gif has function as image link to close stripe-ad, it can seen at the right of my stripe ad (see the top right of page).
Put the stripe-ad
Put the stripe-ad.php between body tag: <body> … </body>. You can directly add the code between the body tag. Below is stripe-ad.php code:
<div id="mta_bar">
<div id="left_bar">
<span class="left"><a href="#">Your ad message</a></span>
</div>
<span class="right" onmouseover="self.status='Goblogging.net';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''"> <img src="your-folder /close.gif" onclick="closeTopAds();return false;" style="cursor: pointer;" align="absmiddle" border="0"></span>
</div>
Or you can call the file by using ‘PHP include’:
<?php include "your-folder/stripe-ad.php"; ?>
Put the style.html between head tag: <head> … </head>. You can directly add the code between the head tag, or you can call the file by using ‘PHP include’:
<?php include "your-folder/style.html"; ?>
You are done
Now you are done. For advanced user, for more attractive and good looking, you could edit the CSS style (style.html). Good luck!

hey man thanks for submitting your site to blogengage! You should also submit this article ti’s simply brilliant! I’ve been looking for a while on how to make one of these and I must say thank you!
I want to add our profile and badges page with this concept so our blogengage members can see we have image for their blogs! but as of now ti’s really hard to see these images. 90% of the people don’t even notice them.
Wish me luck I’m going to try it out! if I fail I’ll be back ahaha!
I just discovered your blog while browsing on blogengage.
I really like your design. I’ll be following this blog to see where it goes.
I don’t really like stripe ads.. it’s never a neat way for blogs…
Since there is a wordpress plugin - http://www.maxblogpress.com/plugins/msa/ and some famous bloggers used stripe-ad including johnchow.com, stripe-ad become more popular. But I know not all bloggers like it. And I found a case about it at: http://www.themakemoneyonline.net/using-a-top-stripe-ad-to-get-visitors/
themakemoneyonline has removed its stripe-ad.
Hey, I looked for a more appropriate place to put this comment, but didn’t find one. For your blog, at this point you really have little potential to make any money. To make money selling private ads you will need high amounts of traffic, and a decent sized RSS subscriber base. For Adsense you would need a very big sized source of traffic to make much money off of it.
As for stripe-ads you may wish to disable them until you get a bigger fan base simply because of how unattractive they look. You are losing more potential on it than you are gaining by having that there.
I’ll consider to what you have said
You’re right, there’s no same design and layout between newbie blogger and famous blogger, so probably I’ll remove the stripe-ad. Thanks!
I guess copying is the highest form of flattery right? The article linked to is how to extract the stripe ad code for your own none wordpress based sites.
i use it before but after change my templates, i’m lazy to put it back. btw thanks to this post.
