For designer students I think you had known about psychology of colour in designing. Where each color has its characteristic, every colour has its own set of positive and negative connotations.
Actually, most of web designers didn’t give the psychology of colour much thought. That’s fine, but it should be your attention to know about psychology of colour. Just keep it simple, no need to go to designer university. I’ll give you short note about psychology of colour.
It’s important when you design your site. It’s not only about design, but also as part of your marketing strategy you need to evoke emotions with your audience. It’s become more important when you design a landing page. An attractive color will make that landing page making a lot of sales and conversions. So you had known that colour is very important, and it has many benefits and advantages when you choose and use the attractive color and match with the perception of audiences. It will connect you with the exact emotions you are aiming for and lead to more conversions and a more successful website.

Yeah, the right color and web design will leave “impression” on visitors and make them stay for longer in the site.

Have you ever taken one of those color tests that tell you what sort of personality you are based on your ranking all the colors in order of preference? They are really quite accurate, imho.
Been experimenting some with the effects of color on link clickthroughs, but don’t have enough data yet to draw any conclusions. Everyone I’ve talked to seems convinced that nothing is going to beat blue links on a white background, but I’m waiting to be convinced.
